From mascara to kid’s clothing, software to services, it’s all in a name.
Since 2004, I’ve named everything from clothing to cloud services, software to makeup, online education companies to healthcare programs, financial products, consumer goods, and more. As a verbal identity specialist, I’ve worked with some of the world’s top branding agencies like Landor and VML and clients like Mary Kay, HP, Bank of America, Proctor and Gamble, and many entrepreneurs and start-ups. From naming strategy to name generation, manifestos to tone of voice, messaging, and brand books, I develop unique, memorable names and verbal identities that capture a brand’s story and spirit.
I worked with Mary Kay from 2004 – 2018 in many capacities, including product naming. From fragrances to skincare lines, teen products to quarterly color collections, I generated names, taglines, tone copy, and brand activation for dozens of products. See more, here.
“I can always count on Kari to stretch the boundaries and deliver the unexpected when it comes to Naming!” – Elaine Jay, Director, Product Positioning, Mary Kay
Role: Verbal Director, Verbal Identity Specialist, Copywriter, Branding Consultant
Naming is part poetry, part imagination, and all inspiration. As a musician, I bring a lyrical quality to my work. As a writer, storyteller, and pop culture lover, I marry world-building and a love of words with a modern sensibility for results that are exciting and legally ownable. Most naming work is proprietary, so contact me for additional samples.
